WeTransfer alternative: no sign-up and no subscription

What the free tier actually covers, what the others cost, and what changes when you pay per send.

The difference in one sentence. WeTransfer requires an account, caps its free tier at 3 GB a month and restricts it to non-commercial use; beyond that, it is a monthly subscription. toobigtoshare requires no account, accepts 2 TB per send, and is paid per send: $5.49, nothing to cancel.

No sign-up, no subscription: why it changes everything

Two points of friction explain most transfers that never arrive.

Creating an account. It costs you three minutes, but above all it costs the recipient: a link that asks them to sign in, create an ID or install an app meets someone who has neither the time nor the inclination — and who writes to tell you “it doesn't work”. With toobigtoshare nobody signs up: not you, not them. They click, they download.

The subscription. A subscription makes sense when you send large files every week. If you send three a year, you pay for twelve months to use it three times, and you forget to cancel. Here you pay $5.49 per send, once, and nothing renews: there is no account, so no subscription to keep an eye on.

Three things you will not be able to do elsewhere

Send without giving an email address — neither yours nor theirs

To send a file by email from a transfer service, you generally have to hand your address and the recipient's to a third party, which will then write to your colleague on your behalf. Here there is no user table: no address is asked for. You get a link and do what you like with it.

Request a file from someone who has nothing to create

That is the other direction, and the most useful day to day: you send an upload link — with a QR code — to a client, a camera operator or a supplier. They drop their file, with no account and nothing to pay. Elsewhere this feature sits behind a sign-up; WeTransfer's free tier in fact starts with “Create an account”.

Send 2 TB without the connection letting you down

The file goes out in pieces, and resuming is designed in from the start: if the connection drops after six hours, the upload picks up where it stopped instead of starting again. That is what makes a transfer of several hundred gigabytes feasible on an ordinary line.

How it works in practice

  1. You drop the file into the browser, up to 2 TB. Nothing to install.
  2. The upload starts immediately, and resumes by itself if the connection drops.
  3. You pay $5.49, once, without creating an account.
  4. You get a link and send it. The recipient clicks and downloads.
  5. Three days later the file is deleted. Nothing to cancel, nothing to clean up.

Send a file with toobigtoshare — up to 2 TB, no sign-up, no subscription.

Frequently asked questions

What are the limits of free WeTransfer?

On WeTransfer's pricing page consulted on 24 August 2026: 3 GB per month sending and receiving combined, 10 transfers per month, expiry up to 3 days, account creation required, and individual, non-commercial use only.

Is there a WeTransfer alternative without sign-up?

Yes. toobigtoshare asks nobody for an account: neither the sender nor the recipient. You drop the file, you get a link, you share it.

What alternative is there for sending more than 3 GB?

toobigtoshare accepts up to 2 TB per send, with no monthly quota, at $5.49 per transfer.

Do you need a subscription to send a big file?

No. The subscription is the model of the long-established transfer services; it makes sense if you send large files every week. For occasional use, paying per send works out cheaper and does not renew.

Got a file of several gigabytes to send?

toobigtoshare carries up to 2 TB. No account to create, neither for you nor for the person receiving: you get a link, you paste it into your email. $5.49 per send, file deleted after 3 days.
